The latest Furano Now report can be found here . It is nice and sunny today with some cloud mixed in as well. There has been 2cm of fresh snow overnight which has freshened up conditions on the mountain. It is quite warm at the moment and quite a few people are cruising around with jackets open and no hat which is quite an unusual sight for Furano.     Independent snow and weather reporting from the Furano region of Hokkaido New snowfall at base 6cm Snowfall at base this season 155cm Posted on Friday 27th December 2013 This is an archived report. The latest Furano Now report can be found here . The slopes have been replenished by new snowfall overnight which is a bit on the wet side but is ideal for covering up some of the thin patches that were starting to occur on the lower slopes. For those out early there will be some nice areas of untracked snow to play in. The weather is high cloud, and again not particularly cold for this time of year. The next few days are looking promising with snow forecast through the weekend and into next week. Night skiing opened on the Kitanomine side last night and with the mild temperatures today it will be a pleasant eveing for a bit of night skiing and taking in the view of the night lights. The latest Furano Now report can be found here . Furano Ski Area reports that the Kitanomine Gondola will start operating today. This is a most welcome anouncement and gives access to a lot more terrain on the Kitanomine side side for intermediates and advanced skiers. Giant and Wide will still remain closed on the Kitanomine side, but Dynamic will open and link up the front face. The weather is blue skies and sunshine at the moment but is expected to turn to snow during the day. Winds are moderate at lower levels, and expect strong winds around the top. Hopefully the wind won't interfere with the season debut for the Gondola. The latest Furano Now report can be found here . Moderate falls over night were a bit wet but we have some nice flurry this morning being whipped around. This means that even with new snow there actually isn't quite enough to change the actual snow level, though any falls we have are most welcome at the moment and levels will improve as this week grows. Snow should continue flurrying for the rest of the day and be at its heaviest early tomorrow morning. The slight breeze will be noticeable at the top of the Gondola but well worth getting up there for advanced skiers. Furano side is offering better snow conditions at this stage. The latest Furano Now report can be found here . Yesterday was an absolute stunning day with 40-50cm of fresh snow on the mountain which the groomers couldn't get to before the skiers. That snow was more than enough to completely cover up any thin patches and now the whole mountain is in fine condition. The Kitanomine courses of Giant, Dynamic, Wide and Training have now opened as a result of this new snow. Today is high overcast, calm and will be a fantastic day. All runs have been extensively groomed. Night skiing on the Furano side is now on the longer Downhill high speed quad. The latest Furano Now report can be found here . Yesterdays flurries ended up as great falls and that continued over night. There will be many smiley faces today with an extra 10cm added to the base and plenty of powder to get your feet stuck in. With this snow and Grooming overnight, any small grass coming through will now be covered and the Kitanomine side will be great for lessons. Snow will continue at a good rate today before settling down tomorrow and temps are pleasant without being cold. The latest Furano Now report can be found here . There has been at least 20cm of new snow fall in the village since yesterday and it is still forecast to snow through until Saturday morning. The ski area is in prime condition this morning and visibility is very good. Expect snow on and off during the day and the place to head would be the Premium Zone which will have an amazing amount of powder. The latest Furano Now report can be found here . With continuing snowfall, Furano Now is starting to wonder if it will ever stop snowing. Furano has been truely blessed over the last week and all courses are now open and in great condition. It is snowing moderately at the moment and there has been at least 10cm accumulation since the last report. Visibility is holding out despite the snow and is good. The Premium Zone will open again today, but untracked powder can be found over large areas of the mountain. The latest Furano Now report can be found here . It is snowing heavily this morning and there is 7cm accumulation in the village. The snow looks like it has settled in so there should be a continuous top up to the slopes all throughout today. Visibility is fair to good, with some low light areas at times. The snow should have stopped by tomorrow morning and the forecast is for a mixture of sun and broken cloud. The latest Furano Now report can be found here . The weather was true to its word with falls right through to around 10pm last night. The powder was really light and dry so we had a great day on the slopes. Today the day has broken into sunshine with little cloud at this stage. There will be great photo opportunities if you get up there early today with views across the ranges. With the cloud lifting the temperature was a chilli -19 this morning but it should stabilise well to a minus 6C day. Snow might be a little heavy as the day goes on. The latest Furano Now report can be found here . The view from the town looking toward the resort this morning is just picture perfect with not a cloud to be seen over the mountain. The morning has started off above freezing and will reach a high of around 9c today. The sun is out in all of its glory and should stay with us through the day. Snow conditions will be soft spring snow from the morning and I would expect it will get pretty slushy on the lower mountain. Tomorrow's weather is also looking pretty good with a mix of cloud and sun, but Sunday will be a contrast to the good weather with heavy rain on the radar for the morning. Kitanomine Zone closed for the season. Furano Zone open.
