- Madarao Now: Sunday 10th March 2013
Independent snow and weather reporting from the Madarao region of Nagano New snowfall at base 0cm Snowfall at base this season 960cm Weather overview Fine with some cloud Wind Strong Temperature - Visibility Good Posted at 9:20am on Sunday 10th March 2013 This is an archived report. The latest Madarao Now report can be found here . I'm writing this report in Nagano, after driving here from Madarao about 2 hours ago. So here's how things were when I left: It's a whopping +10C this morning as spring really take a hold on proceedings now. Don't think I need to mention that there's no new snow! What there is is clear skies above Madarao and a strong wind. Lots of cloud nearby, but at the moment here it's clear and the sun is out. Strong winds are not strong enough to affect the lifts on the mountain, so all open as normal. So yes, spring conditions. Some forecasts had us down for rain/snow today (?!) but that's not happening now. Perhaps things are going to change... It does actually seem that temps are going to drop quickly later on today and into tomorrow. The latest Madarao Now report can be found here . Oh dear, I don't know what to say this morning... more of the same (again!) as spring grabs hold of March tightly. A nice chilly morning though. Lets hope it doesn't cloud over like it did yesterday - and no rain please! Tomorrow is probably going to be a more cloudy affair, and rain is very likely tomorrow later in the day. Hopefully that won't last too long. So, a lovely Sunday morning. Spring skiing and snowboarding. Marvellous. The village has received 10cm overnight and we expect even more to have fallen up on the mountain. This is different snow than the regular light Furano powder, having a higher moisture content, and is exactly what is needed to help bulk up the base on the lower mountain. More snow is forecast for today and tomorrow. Early season is looking great. The latest Furano Now report can be found here . Good and bad news for today. The good news is that there has been 10cm new snow since yesterday and the base on the mountain is rapidly increasing. The not so good news is that the ski area is unable to open today due to ice build up on Furano Ropeway. Hopefully all this will be removed today and things will be back to normal by tomorrow. Assuming things are open tomorrow it will be great conditions for the earlybirds with a substantial amount of fresh snow having fallen in the last couple of days and nobody has been able to ski it.
