  • Hakuba Now: Thursday 16th January 2025

Independent snow and weather reporting from the Hakuba region of Nagano New snowfall at base 15cm Snowfall at base this season 487cm Posted on Thursday 16th January 2025 This is an archived report. The latest Hakuba Now report can be found here . Hakuba greetings to you all. There's more snow. Cortina, the most northerly ski area in 'the valley' is reporting the most new snowfall this morning, 50cm. Others are showing more modest - but still respectable - numbers, as you can see below in the list. There has surely got to be a typo going on with the Happo-one snowfall numbers this morning. An incredible 105cm at Kurobishi and only 5cm at Usagidaira? That's what it says. Just noticed that the time stamp on the 105cm is from yesterday. Please bring your own salt. My own measurement is 15cm. At 8:45am we have a mix of visibility, ranging from very poor in places to good in others. Some blue sky is starting to appear in places and it feels like we might get to see more of that later in the day, though we do expect some more snow before tomorrow morning. Beyond tomorrow, weekend visitors might be pleased to see sunshine forecast for Sunday. There's actually not much snowfall forecast through at least the middle of the week so from the weekend we might have to make so with what we have for several days. But we have plenty, and conditions are excite and fab. -------------------------------- ABLE Hakuba Goryu New snowfall (as reported by the ski area): Top: 10cm Official snow depth (as reported by the ski area): Top: 395cm Top: 165cm ------------ Hakuba 47 Winter Sports Park New snowfall (reported as 'todays snowfall' by the ski area): Top: 10cm Base: 5cm Official snow depth (as reported by the ski area): Top: 395cm Base: 200cm ------------ Hakuba Cortina New snowfall (reported by the ski area): 50cm Official snow depth (as reported by the ski area): 380cm ------------ Hakuba Happo-one New snowfall (as reported by the ski area): Kurobushi (1680m): 105cm Usagidaira (1400m): 5cm Nakiyama (800m): 0cm Official snow depth (as reported by the ski area): Kurobushi (1680m): 415cm Usagidaira (1400m): 302cm Nakiyama (800m): 155cm ------------ Hakuba Iwatake Snow Field New snowfall (reported by the ski area): Mountain Side: 20cm Village Side: 20cm Official snow depth (as reported by the ski area): Mountain Side: 300cm Village Side: 160cm ------------ Hakuba Norikura Onsen Official snow depth (as reported by the ski area): 390cm ------------ Jigatake New snowfall (reported by the ski area): 10cm Official snow depth (as reported by the ski area): 210cm ------------ Kashimayari Skijo Family Park Official snow depth (as reported by the ski area): 235cm ------------ Tsugaike Mountain Resort New snowfall (reported by the ski area): 0cm Official snow depth (as reported by the ski area): Upper: 329cm Base: 111cm ------------ White Resort Hakuba Sanosaka Official snow depth (as reported by the ski area): 230cm Hakuba Now 2024-2025 season Data as Thursday 16th January 2025 Total snowfall at base so far 487cm Number of days snowfall observed at base 37 days Most snowfall observed in 1 day 38cm (28th December) November 2024 snowfall 42cm reported on 3 days December 2024 snowfall 278cm reported on 21 days January 2025 snowfall 167cm reported on 13 days Previous report Next report All snowfall data presented on this page is the snowfall measured and observed at base/town level by our reporter based in Hakuba. • Hakuba Now: Wednesday 15th January 2025

Independent snow and weather reporting from the Hakuba region of Nagano New snowfall at base 33cm Snowfall at base this season 472cm Posted on Wednesday 15th January 2025 This is an archived report. The latest Hakuba Now report can be found here . Once again, I have snowfall numbers reported by ski areas of around 30-40cm this morning. The Happo-one numbers of 5cm at Kurobishi, 59cm at Usagidaira and 15cm at base are a bit funky and perhaps involve typos (and the total accumulated snowfall for the season at Tsugaike remains unchanged at 140cm according to the official Hakuba Valley website). Nerdy numbers aside, we again have some impressive snowfall with it likely to continue through today. Interesting to note that it's not particularly cold. It could do with being colder. But it feels odd to think of things to complain about when we are being snowed on so much. I must take a look back at my reporting from previous seasons, but I can't recall a season quite like this. (I will do that one day). The weather patterns this season are just delivering the goods for Hakuba. Yey! Today's automated Facebook translation corner (from Hakuba 47): "A little forecast (?!) in a lot of snow! It's still pouring cancer!" The latest Hakuba Now report can be found here . Golly, it has been a busy morning. There was a bit of a neighbourhood emergency that I had to be involved with. So I'm a bit late this morning. Gomen! A bank of cloud and a little light snow earlier on. Some blue sky too. Less of the blue sky now and it is due to be snowing before the end of the day. It feels a bit mild at the moment and I am looking forward to the heavy snow that we are due by tomorrow and through the day tomorrow. Once again, it looks like there is a good chance that Hakuba is going to receive the goods. Sunshine on Thursday. Should be a good one!
