Independent snow and weather reporting from the Nozawa Onsen region of Nagano

This morning the ski area is reporting an additional 30cm of snow overnight, so with the 10cm it reported yesterday at 3pm that is 40cm over 24 hours.


Lower areas all come in at 15-25cm.


More snow forecast through tomorrow. And next week seems to be shaping up nice too.


It's good to be back to more mid winter like conditions.


Ski area is reporting the chance of gondola disruption due to wind on mountain today, though all seems to be ok at the moment.


Fresh snowfall since yesterday morning (as reported by the ski area):

Yamabiko: 40cm

Uenotaira: 22cm

Hikage: 25cm

Nagasaka: 24cm

Karasawa: 15cm


Official snow depth numbers (reported by the ski area):

Yamabiko: 250cm

Uenotaira: 215cm

Hikage: 160cm

Nagasaka: 155cm

Karasawa: 120cm


Lifts:

All scheduled lifts are operating as planned

The Utopia pair lift and Challenge pair lift are normally closed on weekdays


Courses:

All courses are available apart from Mukobayashi, Grand Prix and Kurokura
