The skijo is reporting up to 46cm at the top of the mountain. A somewhat surprising amount, perhaps, but I'm going to be going up there to check it out this morning! Naski is pleased. The latest Myoko Now report can be found here . Cold overnight here—it got down to nearly -9° here at the base, and was still -6° at 7am. The wind has died down, which is nice. Gives us time to clear out the drifts in places where the wind comes in from the north (like my house, which I nominate for worst designed entry in the greater Myoko area). It’s overcast with a very high cloud cover that is giving us good visibility, with the sun just trying to come out at times. I hear that some lifts were running intermittently yesterday afternoon when the winds were especially strong. While I know a lot of people don’t want a lot of major development here that would ruin the Myoko feeling, I do wish we could get some of the operating companies to put some money into aging lifts (and a wise editor of mine noted that this isn’t just a Myoko phenomenon, since there are a lot of 40-year-old lifts from the bubble days still churning along, if not always continuously). When the wind is too high, there’s nothing you can do about it, but too many lifts run a bit too erratically.... The latest Nozawa Now report can be found here . Good morning from Nozawa. And as the Madarao reporter this morning says, it is a good morning as we have a nice layer of fresh snow. Since yesterday morning the ski area has reported as much as 36cm of snowfall up at Yamabiko with 17-31cm in lower sections. I measured 23cm. It is quite windy this morning too which is not as pleasing. The snow is going to get less today and hopefully tomorrow will be calmer too. We can probably expect some warmer more spring-like conditions next week. For now, though, a bit more winter to enjoy! The latest Myoko Now report can be found here . Good snowfall overnight, with some wind to give us some drifts and make that snow extra dense. It is dense and sticky, too; there are lots of real, six-armed snowflake flakes coming down that really want to stick immediately on your shovel or snowblower. Not sure how that’s going to play out on the resort runs, but it can get pretty packed and hard quickly. There still is a bit of a breeze out there, not enough to close lifts, maybe, but it is predicted to get stronger in the afternoon, with colder temperatures, too. Then things will start to get really variable; I think we’re going to feel some early spring conditions, as well as still get some more snow. Variety; that’s what we provide you in Myoko. I’m actually looking forward to spring and snowshoeing in the woods after the season officially closes. With this big base, we’ll have a good long season out there. Just watch out for the awakening bears... The latest Hakuba Now report can be found here . There was a thin layer of snow on the top of my car this morning (already gone). Check below for what ski areas are reporting, but let me just comment on Hakuba Cortina. Hakuba Cortina this morning is saying on the official site that it has 30cm of fresh snowfall. (Sounds great!) At the same time, it is saying 20-25cm on it's Facebook page. I suppose one may be correct. Though all admittedly sound appealing when other ski areas are reporting much less. Tsugaike ski area says "there was snowfall, but the wind is blowing it away". What does seem to be the case is that there was more snowfall to the north (Otari) than in Hakuba and Omachi regions to the south. Anyway, it all sounds worth investigating and should be a fine morning to be out on the slopes. There is some blue sky and sunshine amongst the clouds. Some wet snow falling right now and it is still quite foggy. Top section of the Zao Ropeway appears to be on hold.
