Some snow from yesterday morning and no more from overnight. Early on this morning it was bright but it has started to become duller and now a generally overcast feel. Friday onwards is still due to warm up a fair bit, and unfortunately we might get even rained on around Saturday; we can only hold on to the hope that it might be cold enough for snow. Confirmed information is hard to come by but at least Sun Valley, Maruike and Hasuike will be closing at the end of the day on 31st March. Visibility is generally poor and it's also quite cold. These conditions might last for most of the day, so hopefully there will be more cm of fresh snow to report tomorrow. Come on!!! Monday is a holiday here in Japan - traditionally for some this is their last 'snow trip' of the season. Not for us gnarly folk though, of course... It is a cloudy/foggy morning with all sorts of shades of white and grey going on. Oh yes, and a little fresh snow too! The latest Shiga Kogen Now report can be found here . Not a whole lot of snow overnight but there is a fresh layer of white. Kumanoyu and Yakebitaiyama are both reporting 5cm of fresh snowfall and my number is the same. It's still snowing now too. I was just over at Okushiga and it was actually snowing quite heavily for a moment over there. It feels cold out there too, so this is a bit of a mini winter blast. Perhaps the last one? There's not much snow lined up on forecasts for the coming week but it's also going to keep quite cold and no bluebird-type days. The latest Shiga Kogen Now report can be found here . Good morning from Shiga Kogen. A really nice layer of new snowfall since yesterday. Kumanoyu report 15cm. I measured 22cm and I feel there's going to be more than that over at Okushiga. Nozawa and those areas to the north got quite a lot yesterday, I see. So it's variable. But bottom line - a good new layer all round. It's still snowing too, and coming down quite heavily in some areas. That probably won't last the day though, maybe not even the morning. From tomorrow temps are going to start that inevitable rise, so the chances of enjoying fresh powder conditions are going to be quickly decreasing. We will probably get more snow but the chances of significant amounts are going to continue to decrease from now. Remember though, while some of the lifts here in Shiga Kogen close at the end of this month, others will be continuing right through May. There's a lot left - time and snow! We had a bit of snow last night but this morning the sun is shining down on us and there is a lot of blue sky now. Hopefully it might stay quite cold today and not warm up. In some places the sun is breaking through the cloud. In others, it's just still really cloudy and less bright. Cloud and light snow at times seem to be what the forecasts are saying. Temps should take a drop again around Sunday (getting back to being more winter like) and we might be on the receiving end of some good cm of snow too.
