Independent snow and weather reporting from the Shiga Kogen region of Nagano

New snowfall at base 1cm
Snowfall at base this season 6cm

Good morning from Shiga Kogen.

A week has passed and there hasn't been much to report. A few days feeling terrible after an injection didn't help! Thankfully, I am feeling something like normal this morning.

So anyway, there was a thin layer of snow yesterday morning but it didn't last long and it's a fine and sunny morning again this morning. Quite windy too... and mild.

Kumanoyu is still on standby. There is snow on the upper areas with patchy snow and the ground showing at base. A small part of Yokoteyama is still open for people in need of early turns.

I choose to be patient, though it looks like we are going to have to be patient for a while longer with not much snow lined up on immediate forecasts.

From what I gather, lots of ski areas around Japan that planned to open this weekend are not able to due to a lack of snow.

It's still November, so there is no need to panic!
