A chilly overnight and as of 6:30am it is around 2 degrees, with a high of about 10 degrees likely later on in the day. Tomorrow should also be sunny but get a fair bit warmer... we might see temperatures rise to almost 20 degrees in town. Maiko Snow Resort is due to open today and tomorrow for the weekend, and that will be the last for that resort this season. The day is supposed to be a mix of sleet/rain, cloud, sun and then back to rain, sleet or snow... so take your pick. Light snow falling higher up earlier on this morning but not the kind that will bring any cm - and none reported by Kagura - but always good to hear of snow falling. The day is forecast to be cloudy here and not warm up so much (a high of around 7 degrees later in town, with maybe clouds bringing some rain, perhaps sleet and maybe even snow tonight and into tomorrow morning. Whether we'll see much of anything tomorrow morning.... I'll let you know! The latest Yuzawa Now report can be found here . It has been a fine day here in the Yuzawa and Minamiuonuma valleys with clear blue skies above. A moderate spring wind this afternoon, but not like over the weekend. Temperatures rose up to around 14 degrees. The forecast tells us to expect a cold early morning tomorrow, possibly even dipping down to around freezing. Chance of rain or perhaps a bit of snow up top as well - but nothing major. Tomorrow should settle down to be just cloudy and a bit colder than today. The latest Yuzawa Now report can be found here . So we are now down to three skijo open in the area - Kandatsu Kogen, GALA Yuzawa and Kagura. With Maiko planning to open this coming weekend, just for the weekend. It has been a bit calmer today though still quite windy up on the mountains with the Tashiro area of Kagura closed and limited at the main Kagura area too, via Mitsumata. Been some sun out though so it feels rather brighter than it did over the weekend. Tomorrow is forecast to start off clear and sunny and it will warm up to perhaps around 12 degrees during the daytime. The latest Yuzawa Now report can be found here . As yesterday the day started off fine here today but now that we are into the afternoon the rain has started. Strong winds too as forecast and the conditions have affected resorts around town with Gala Yuzawa and Kagura closed and limitations elsewhere.... not the best of days by all accounts. The winds may ease off somewhat tomorrow but rain is likely to continue. The latest Yuzawa Now report can be found here . Fine weather to start the day off here, and it's going to be another warm one.... and more of the same tomorrow as well. If you are planning a day this weekend, make sure it's tomorrow as Sunday is currently forecast to bring some pretty heavy rain and stormy conditions. If the forecast holds true not only will it be a bit nasty but also very windy and a good chance that some lifts might be stopped. The new version of SnowJapan will be with us all in the next day or two. It's a complete reworking of the site and totally new. This Now report page will also look rather different as well. [Originally posted earlier this morning - late appearance due to technical issues] There's quite a lot of cloud around this morning but a definite improvement on yesterday. Actually this morning also started off with some light rain still around but that has cleared and it would seem that we are going to see the clear up continuing with sunny blue skies likely this afternoon over Yuzawa and the Minamiuonuma valley. As of 9am it is about 6 degrees with a high of around 11c forecast. Tomorrow should get warmer and be sunny from early in the morning according to the local forecast. Saturday to get warmer still and also bring us more rain by the looks... As forecast, rain and heavy rain as I write the report. All through the night too and it doesn't seem keen to give up anytime soon.... might be tomorrow morning before it stops. So definitely a day for a soak in an onsen today or some other activity, I can't see it being much fun on the slopes, especially when the biggest chance of snow today up at Kagura isn't going to be possible due to wind closures. Let's hope for a nicer day tomorrow - local forecast is cloudy start turning sunny. The day has started off cloudy and some spots of rain falling, light at the moment but the forecast for the day seems to be cloud and temps to rise to around 12 degrees. There's a moderate wind blowing around early on - whether that will be enough to impact on some lifts, not sure. Rain is forecast for the day tomorrow. The latest Yuzawa Now report can be found here . It's a fine morning in Yuzawa. Lots of blue skies and just a few wispy kind of clouds hanging around. Should be a fine day. Tomorrow it's forecast to be cloudy with a chance of rain later in the day. Yesterday was of course the last day of the season for a number of resorts around Yuzawa and Minamiuonuma. Unfortunately around lunchtime rain started falling and it was a bit of a wet afternoon... not the best way to finish off the season. But otsukaresama to all of the people at those resorts - we'll see you next season. Still, most of the bigger resorts remain open and of course some until near the end of May if the snow holds up. Many of the remaining open resorts are 'part open' which means that not all courses and lifts are available. For example it seems that Gala Yuzawa have now closed their South Area of the resort; Iwappara has just the Number 2 and 3 lifts operating; Yuzawa Park has it's Number 1 and Number 7 lifts operating.... always best to check on the official sites for the very latest if you intend to go somewhere just to make sure.
