Independent snow and weather reporting from the Nozawa Onsen region of Nagano New snowfall at base 1cm Snowfall at base this season 431cm Posted on Thursday 13th February 2014 This is an archived report. The latest Nozawa Now report can be found here . Good morning from Nozawa and... it's snowing. There's not a whole lot yet on the ground - as of 7:30am the resort was reporting 2-3cm on the upper areas of the mountain and 1cm lower down. Heavy snow isn't forecast for today - most local forecasts are giving us more just cloudy conditions than snowfall - but it's all looking more exciting from late tomorrow and over the weekend when we can hopefully expect some decent snowfall in the region. All fingers crossed please! Bring it on, oh yes please. Independent snow and weather reporting from the Nozawa Onsen region of Nagano New snowfall at base 15cm Snowfall at base this season 536cm Posted on Wednesday 19th February 2014 This is an archived report. The latest Nozawa Now report can be found here . Morning from Nozawa and it has continued snowing here on the mountain and down in the village. Here's what the resort has logged since yesterday morning: Yamabiko - 15cm Uenotaira - 20cm Hikage - 18cm Nagasaka - 18cm Karasawa - 15cm Right now it is cloudy and light snow still falling with pretty poor visibility on all but the very lower slopes - can't see much of anything up on the top areas. It's keeping good and cold and about -3 degrees at the moment. Top temperature up on Yamabiko of -10C as of 7:30am. We're actually expecting just cloudy for the day - perhaps even clearing conditions. Snow conditions on the mountain are really great at the moment and this last storm has really filled things in good and proper. I was up there yesterday and fidning lots of untouched, nice and deep - helped along not only by the large amount of snowfall since the weekend but also fewer people than usual because of the traffic situation. The people of Nozawa are certainly hoping that there's no more heavy snow in places where it doesn't matter preventing people getting here! If all transport options are available, I would expect this coming weekend to be a big one with people wanting to come and play in the snow. In the meantime, we have a few days to enjoy it before the weekenders arrive! Independent snow and weather reporting from the Nozawa Onsen region of Nagano New snowfall at base 1cm Snowfall at base this season 537cm Posted on Friday 21st February 2014 This is an archived report. The latest Nozawa Now report can be found here . Hello and good morning from Nozawa where light snow has been falling from the skies this morning. The resort reported 15cm of fresh on Uenotaira, and about 7cm on the top Yamabiko areas overnight, with an additional 1-5cm across the mountain up until just after 10am this morning. So just a dusting down at base really but more fresh to be found higher up. I wouldn't expect much more in terms of cm today looking at what the forecasts say - which is mostly just cloud for today. One things the forecasts do seem to agree on though is that there's hardly any snow forecast for the coming week past tomorrow and the potential for lots of sun. We haven't seen a whole lot of the sun of late so it will be good, but lets just hope it doesn't warm up too much. Around Tuesday temperatures are due to be into positive numbers. Should keep cold for the weekend though. Expect Nozawa to be very busy this weekend! Hope you can come and enjoy the current conditions. • Nozawa Now: Saturday 22nd February 2014

Independent snow and weather reporting from the Nozawa Onsen region of Nagano New snowfall at base 5cm Snowfall at base this season 542cm Posted on Saturday 22nd February 2014 This is an archived report. The latest Nozawa Now report can be found here . Mixed conditions this morning. The sun is out down here at base, but still quite a lot of cloud up top and it was snowing earlier on this morning. We seem to be sandwiched between areas this morning where it's still snowing (Yuzawa) and places to the west where there's brilliant blue sky (Hakuba) this morning. Oh yes, the resort is reporting 18cm of fresh snowfall up on Yamabiko and up to 30cm on Uenodaira since yesterday morning as it was snowing for most of the day up there on the mountain, with not as much to show for it lower down by base - 5cm or so. Hikage area reporting 10cm. Forecasts tell us to expect the sun and so I reckon it will probably clear up and leave us with a good fine day here, with similar due tomorrow too. Hardly any snow forecast through into the middle of next week. Sun, clear and cloud is lined up. It's also due to get warmer as well mid week, perhaps a bit too warm for our liking. The weekend should keep pretty cold though. Enjoy! The latest Nozawa Now report can be found here . Fresh snow! Not huge amounts but fresh snow all the same. Up to 5cm on upper slopes and just a sprinkling to few cm down at base. Good to see some fresh snow on the trees as well this morning. It has eased off for the moment and it's a cloudy morning. Visibility generally ok but poor in places on the mountain. And you know what, if some forecasts are to be believed, things are looking fairly promising this coming week, especially around Wednesday/Thursday when we could be blessed by some decent snowfall and much colder winter-like conditions. Independent snow and weather reporting from the Nozawa Onsen region of Nagano New snowfall at base 15cm Snowfall at base this season 560cm Posted on Thursday 6th March 2014 This is an archived report. The latest Nozawa Now report can be found here . Morning from Nozawa, and a good one it is too. I'll quickly paper over the not particularly nice and rather wet yesterday and zoom in on the fact that apparently we have 30cm of fresh up on Yamabiko, 25cm on Uenotaira and 15cm on the rest of the mountain. I can definitely confirm the need to get all the snow off the car this morning which is always a pleasure. (Well, almost always!) So yes the early March storm has arrived. It's cold, it has been snowing. Overnight there were strong winds making a noise, but it's calmer now. The snowfall seems to be easing off, but snow showers are due on and off for the day. The mountain is covered in cloud and visibility seems poor on the upper areas and more decent down below. More of the same over the coming days. Let's rack up some decent snow! Independent snow and weather reporting from the Nozawa Onsen region of Nagano New snowfall at base 25cm Snowfall at base this season 585cm Posted on Friday 7th March 2014 This is an archived report. The latest Nozawa Now report can be found here . I bring good news. Lots more snow here in Nozawa with another.... well, let's list it up. Since yesterday morning: Yamabiko - 35cm Uenotaira - 55cm Hikage - 30cm Nagasaka - 30cm Karasawa - 25cm Yes, the resort is reporting 5cm in the daytime yesterday and 50cm overnight on the Uenotaira area. :) What's more, the sun is out at the moment. It should be a fantastic morning for those lucky enough to be able to get some of the first lifts up this morning. We're actually due snow on and off through the day today and the same tomorrow as well (and the same Sunday as well), so not sure if this clearing of the skies will last but another refill before the weekend crowds arrive would make it quite possibly one of the best weekends of the season. Snow is on the forecast actually through until around Monday, so we're by no means done with this storm yet. Early March is being kind to us... thank you! The latest Nozawa Now report can be found here . You'll have to forgive me for today I am in Nagano and this report is coming to you courtesy of the Nozawa official site and a call to a friend over in Nozawa. So it's not coming from my own eyes! Now I don't know if a trick is being played on me, but here's what the resort is reporting this morning: Yamabiko - 30cm Uenotaira - 60cm Hikage - 40cm Nagasaka - 40cm Karasawa - 40cm That's new snowfall since yesterday afternoon. What's more, the sun is out and lots of blue sky. It's keeping cold, -4C in the village as of 8am and just a light breeze. Wow. And here's me stuck in Nagano. Talk about bad timing. I'm hearing it is very busy this morning - as you might expect - but conditions are going to be top notch today with more snow likely before the end of the weekend. I need to get back there and see if this isn't just some cruel trick! The latest Nozawa Now report can be found here . Back here in Nozawa and hearing lots of tales of heroism and epicness from the conditions yesterday. I am itching to get out today and find this all out for myself! A bit more snow overnight (4cm lower down, 10cm on top Yamabiko) but as most of the lifts start moving for the day the sun is out and we have lovely blue skies over Nozawa. Decent snowfall is due again tonight and tomorrow but for now and for probably most of the day today it's going to be clear and sunny. Remember the sunscreen. It should be keeping pretty cold though and hopefully not venturing too much into positive C territory.... and definitely colder again during the day tomorrow. Time for me to strap on the boots and check out this snow. Hope to see you out there. Yamabiko - 35cm Uenotaira - 25cm Hikage - 22cm Nagasaka - 22cm Karasawa - 20cm Oh yes. And things are getting quieter as well weekdays now. It is a good time to be here this season - definitely a note needs to be made. Early March 2014? Yes, definitely very good for Nozawa. This morning the sun is out and we are enjoying blue skies above. It is cold early but temps should creep just a bit into positive numbers early afternoon. It's going to get warmer tomorrow though and after that we might get some rain. Let's just hope that it doesn't warm up too much and we can avoid much wetness, that would spoil things. I will give you the latest on that situation in my report tomorrow (which by the way may be posted later in the day). The latest Nozawa Now report can be found here . After a cold night the sun is shining and we have blue skies above Nozawa. Oh yes, some new snow to play in too! The resort is reporting 15-18cm of fresh up on the top areas of the mountain this morning, up to 10cm on lower areas, so there will be some good tracks to be made up there as I sit down here writing this. So it is a cold start to the day and with the fresh snow conditions should be great. There's hardly any wind and it's just a really fine morning. Sunny conditions are expected tomorrow as well, and while it will get cold again tonight it's expected to warm up considerably during the day tomorrow and we may well get some precipitation later. Hopefully the white kind. It's expected to be warm over the next week or so. Is that a dip in temperatures I can see on the forecast for later in the week? The latest Nozawa Now report can be found here . After what turned into a wet day yesterday, it's good to be able to report some snow this morning. Wet snow for sure, certainly down here near base (borderline sleet at times), but definitely better than rain!
