Independent snow and weather reporting from the Nozawa Onsen region of Nagano New snowfall at base 10cm Snowfall at base this season 741cm Posted on Thursday 29th January 2015 This is an archived report. The latest Nozawa Now report can be found here . Hello from Nozawa. It's a cold morning and just cloudy conditions at the moment. Some forecasts say we'll see some of the sun today and I reckon they may be right. There is about 10cm of fresh being reported by the resort since yesterday morning across mountain, including what fell during the daytime and the slight dusting that we got overnight as well. OK so what about this Nozawa-rashii snowfall that we are looking forward to. Looks like it's still due to be with us from later on in the day sometime tomorrow and once it starts it should be snowing through until around Tuesday. Heavily at times. That sounds good to me. Keep it in mind if you are planning to be here for the weekend. Now that we have that wet behind us, there's a layer of white on the ground this morning with the resort reporting 10cm across the mountain. Light snow currently falling but nothing major. Limited visibility on the upper slopes early but decent lower down. Looking ahead towards the next significant snowfall... the snow that is due to start falling on Friday should continue coming down over the weekend and into next week. Juicy numbers may well be on the menu there and I will certainly be looking forward to reporting them. Onegai shimasu. In the meantime, the sun may make an appearance tomorrow. But it should remain cold. • Nozawa Now: Sunday 1st February 2015

Independent snow and weather reporting from the Nozawa Onsen region of Nagano New snowfall at base 40cm Snowfall at base this season 791cm Posted on Sunday 1st February 2015 This is an archived report. The latest Nozawa Now report can be found here . A very good morning to you from Nozawa. And indeed a good morning it is and a fine start to February. Yes, these are the kinds of days that I particularly enjoy reporting on. As you might have guessed, there's a ton of snow to report this morning. Resort reports 40-45cm of snow across the mountain this morning and that's not counting what we got during the day yesterday, so I would guess a good 1/2m. How's that for a refresh. Nozawa-tastic! Love it! It's a cold morning, snow condition down here even looks great, so I would expect some fantastic conditions up on the top areas in particular where it was apparently -10 degrees as of 7:30am. Wrap up well folks. Limited visibility up there as well by the looks though better lower down. Looks like the Kamoshika and Tanuki courses are closed this morning, no doubt due to the fresh snow and associated possible dangers. Hopefully they can get those open again soon. Forecast for the day is continued snowfall easing off into tomorrow. Deep snow conditions are what we dream of, but do remember the dangers and keep safe out there. Have fun. The latest Nozawa Now report can be found here . More snow in Nozawa to report this morning as the complete mountain-wide refresh continues. Resort reporting up to another 40cm of new snowfall since yesterday. Some very fine deep conditions to be found this morning, and less people to compete for them. Not that it's a competition of course. ;) It is a cold morning and the snow continues to fall here in this north east corner of Nagano, and snow is forecast for the day and into tomorrow though some of the forecasts have it easing off tomorrow. Once we get past this bunch of snow clouds we should have a few days of cloud and the chance of some short-lived sun at times. Doesn't look like there's significant snow for the rest of the week. Doesn't matter for now anyway. Excellent conditions to be found out there. The latest Nozawa Now report can be found here . Few cm of snow on the mountain since yesterday (up to 10cm higher up, just a bit lower down) and mixed weather conditions at 8am this morning. Cloudy low down and higher up too (fog) with some clearer conditions mid mountain. I think the cloud will clear up this morning and the sun break through for a fine day. That's what the forecast says and it feels like that's what will happen today. Maybe some light snow at times Friday but other than that generally calm and fine weather through until Sunday. Temperatures might be nudging into positive (but low) numbers over the next few days down at village level but remaining firmly in the negative up top. Next snow storm looks set to arrive over Nozawa sometime Sunday. The latest Nozawa Now report can be found here . It's another very cold morning here in Nozawa and I have more fresh to report too... since yesterday the resort is reporting 15-23cm of fresh snow across the mountain. They're also reporting a temperature of -12C at Yamabiko as of 8am. Just generally cloudy conditions as I write this report approaching 9am, and we're not really expecting much in terms of snow today. More just cloud and it should be remaining cold. Looks like tomorrow should be a cracker with sun on the forecast and getting a bit warmer as well, hopefully not too much. Then it's back to snow falling Friday and Saturday so continued fresh conditions looks likely. It is still snowing now but expected to stop this morning leaving us with a cloudy day and temperature hovering around freezing point down here in the village. Tomorrow expect sun and enjoy it while you can because from Sunday onwards the next lot of snow is due to start falling and continue into next week. I would say some Nozawa-rashii snowfall might be on the cards come Monday. Uenotaira area of Nozawa reports over 50cm of snowfall since yesterday morning, with at least 30cm of fresh fallen across the mountain. Oh yes, it'll be deep out there this morning. The local forecast says that it'll ease off this afternoon, to be followed by clear and sunny conditions tomorrow. If you can extend the weekend by the day you will be richly rewarded. The latest Nozawa Now report can be found here . Snow awaited me though with a nice layer of new snow on the ground - resort reporting up to 35cm in places since yesterday morning. It has been snowing this morning but as I write this now there's a few breaks in the cloud and even a bit of sunshine as well. Snow is the forecast for the day though, with a chance of heavy snowfall conditions later and overnight. Perhaps easing off later tomorrow. But after the chance of some sun early week, it'll be back to snow mid week. Sounds good to me. I'm off up the mountain now! Until tomorrow. The latest Nozawa Now report can be found here . It's a beauty of a morning in Nozawa and by the looks of it in wider areas as well. Blue skies, sunny, hardly any cloud at all. All looking very tempting. The resort is full on this weekend with no lifts taking a break and no doubt it's going to be a busy few days. It is a cold start to the day but it should start to feel warmer as the day goes on especially if the sun stays out for the day. Low positive temperature numbers expected later on today and tomorrow too, though generally more cloud tomorrow. Fresh snow by the end of tomorrow as well hopefully. Have fun and take care.
