Independent snow and weather reporting from the Nozawa Onsen region of Nagano

New snowfall at base 3cm
Snowfall at base this season 183cm

Posted on Saturday 23rd January 2016 This is an archived report. The latest Nozawa Now report can be found here.

Hello from Nozawa.

Snow was falling up on the mountain yesterday and since yesterday morning the resort has reported up to 18cm up there. Much less on lower areas and here in the village.

It is a cold morning again with temperatures down at -4C now and it probably won't warm up into positive numbers today.

Snowfall is expected late tonight as we enter Sunday and there is a good chance of quite a lot of snow falling tomorrow as well - especially when we get to tomorrow night. Some local forecasts even have a few spells of sunshine lined up for tomorrow before that heavy snow arrives.
