The latest Geto Kogen Now report can be found here . There is some fresh snowfall this morning, just under 10cm, and that has all come overnight after a fine day yesterday. And this morning its generally just cloudy. A modest amount overnight aside, it has been a bit of a lull in snowfall (for Geto, anyway) and that is due to continue through Wednesday. From then on there's more snow lined up on the forecast. Apparently the Number 2 pair lift will be closed today and tomorrow. Courses open: All normal courses open. That might delay some lifts (I noticed it is delaying top lifts at Happo). There's just a dusting(+) of snow to report and the only ski areas posting any new cm this morning is Cortina (3cm) and Goryu (2cm)... others are going with 0cm. Light snow has been lingering down in base areas but it feel like that is going to totally stop sooner than later. We might even get some sun later on in the day today. It's -3C right now. The latest Myoko Now report can be found here . Clear and cold last night as the snow slowly stopped. Beautiful big, sparkly snowflakes to end that great big fall. A nice end to the latest storm cycle. Kind of glad to have a break in clearing snow, too. You get that much snow and, if you have a few places to keep under control, you can feel like you're constantly just barely staying ahead of buried windows and overloaded roofs (see yesterdays report). The latest Nozawa Now report can be found here . Cloud start this morning. Contrasting forecasts today but it's all a mix of cloud and sun. And the same for tomorrow too actually. Rested lifts today: Skyline connecting pair, Challenge pair, Utopia pair, Nagasaka quad, Karasawa pair. Pretty much all open apart from Yunomine A, Grand Prix and Kamoshika. Hey it's the weekend in January. Peak season and usually very busy. I wonder how many people will be here. With covid looming on the news, I have heard of groups being cancelled and the like. I feel generally people are just going on with their lives, perhaps less concerned than they have been in previous 'waves', but still being careful. Naski is out and looking very green and cheerful (as always). Lets hope everyone else can keep that way. The latest Hakuba Now report can be found here . Good morning from Hakuba. It's a very cold early Saturday morning, the sun is out and we have beautiful blue skies. There's some cloud around, but it's that kind that adds to the atmosphere and feel of the morning. No ski areas reporting any snow since yesterday, but like I said it has stayed cold and conditions should be great this morning. (The 1cm I report this morning is from early yesterday morning, post report). Tomorrow should be more cloudy and looking at the forecast for the coming week, it looks like it will be generally calm with a bunch of cloud and sun at times. Not a whole lot of snow on there for the moment. We got lots to play in though, so time to enjoy the conditions we have. 47PARKS at Hakuba 47 re-opens today. I am hearing of various group lessons and such being cancelled at the moment. That is all due to the annoying covid situation. Still, the car parks seem to be pretty lively this morning... Original report Hello from Madarao. The snow is back! And another good 30cm of it too. That's what the ski area reports, and I just measured 34cm, with more snow due through today. This particular batch of snow is due to end by this evening and then hopefully we'll get a really good clear and sunny start to the weekend tomorrow. As long as it stays cold, which seems to be the case, that's great. Beyond that maybe a run of a few days without much snow. This has meant though that many of the lifts are not yet open (at time of report). Most of the slopes are soft-groomed but they have left some sides untouched so look for those if you like the fluffy stuff. Sorry about a slightly late report today, but we had another really good blast of snow — which continues to fall steadily — so more than extra time was required to get things in good order for the day. Which they're not (the usual freezing of the shooter in the snow thrower, the small car hung up on a pile of snow that needed a winching out. Normal stuff). This year has really been a throwback to the past for me; 20 years ago this was normal (with some variation year to year, of course). So it's great to see so much snow out there, but it does require some work on the locals' part to keep things moving. I worry about the roofs of unused buildings, because without the heat (and probably vibrations) of people living inside that snow is really piling up. Tons of snow sitting on a roof is not good for the structure, and the woods around here are dotted with abandoned vacation homes that are now a pile of shattered timber. Amazing stuff, water. The latest Nozawa Now report can be found here . Morning from... Nagano city. I had to be get myself here yesterday morning, so to be clear and up front this morning I am reporting what my friend in Nozawa has just told me, backed up by what is on the official site. (Note: I will adjust this report as necessary later if needed). The ski area is reporting 50cm of snow on the upper area since yesterday afternoon (with 21cm at Uenotaira and 15cm at Nagasaka). That isn't including any snow from yesterday during the day. I plan to be back in Nozawa in time for tomorrows report.
