- Myoko Now: Tuesday 4th March 2025
Independent snow and weather reporting from the Myoko region of Niigata New snowfall at base 5cm Snowfall at base this season 1481cm Posted on Tuesday 4th March 2025 This is an archived report. The latest Myoko Now report can be found here . We got a few more centimeters of pretty dense snow through the day yesterday, along with much colder temperatures. Looks like spring isn't entirely ready to come in yet, although we will get some potentially strong south winds during the night tonight that will turn the snow that may fall later today into rain. There are some crazy meteorological things going on out there in the Pacific; a big frontal line way out there that is making for crazy wind patterns. As we have said so often in this unusual season, who knows? We might even have some pretty serious snow coming on Friday, so it’s time to shovel off some roofs and get ready. There’s still enough snow on some roofs to make it difficult to open doors due to the pressure from above.... Just when we thought we were almost out, we got pulled back in. The latest Nozawa Now report can be found here . We have had some pretty heavy snow falling over the last few hours and it has been building up quite quickly. It's great to have some fresh snow! A return to a winter-like feel after the warm weekend. It might continue until later this afternoon or this evening. Maybe a bit of clearer sky tomorrow morning, but there's more snow lined up on the forecasts for later in the week. Let's have it! The famous road sign on the mountain has been getting lots of attention recently, apparently. Some people have seen fit to deface it with lots of stickers. No doubt feeling the need to take photos for their social media or whatever. After all, it's their right to do whatever they please for the photo opportunity, right? (No, it isn't). The ski area has felt the need to comment, asking people to please respect the public property and refrain from defacing it. 「とっていいのは写真だけ、残していいのは足跡だけ」 "Take only photos, Leave only footprints" Fresh snowfall since yesterday afternoon as reported by the ski area: Yamabiko: 5cm Uenotaira: -cm Hikage: 5cm Nagasaka: 10cm Karasawa: -cm Official snow depth numbers (reported by the ski area): Yamabiko: 385cm Uenotaira: 320cm Hikage: 250cm Nagasaka: 250cm Karasawa: 180cm Lifts & courses: All scheduled lifts are operating as planned The Utopia pair lift and Challenge pair lift are normally closed on weekdays Nozawa Now 2024-2025 season Data as of Monday 3rd March 2025 Total snowfall at base 966cm Number of days snowfall observed at base 64 days Most snowfall observed in 1 day 44cm (8th and 19th February) November 2024 snowfall 3cm reported on 1 day December 2024 snowfall 291cm reported on 21 days January 2025 snowfall 239cm reported on 19 days February 2025 snowfall 424cm reported on 22 days March 2025 snowfall 9cm reported on 1 day Previous report Next report All snowfall data presented on this page is the snowfall measured and observed at base/town level by our reporter based in Nozawa Onsen. Our daily reports are not posted on behalf of ski areas or any other business or organisation. Since first going online in 1999, the integrity of this website has always been our top priority, and it is something we are not prepared to compromise. All content is carefully created and written by humans who share a passion for the subject and what SnowJapan stands for. About SnowJapan.com About the daily reporting on SnowJapan.com
