The latest Furano Now report can be found here . Bonjour les skieurs et les planchistes, A little French today in honor of our French-speaking Swiss guests. OOOPS!! Super busy today, wrote the above and then have been busily distracted ever since. Good news is that it will be much warmer tonight, only -8 C or so. So that's nice. Bad news (for some) is that will be all the way up to zero C tomorrow, but we don't have any powder, so doesn't really matter. It'll just be pleasant. Think snow. --- Furano Zone Lift A: 8:30--3:50 Lift B: 9:00--3:50 Lift C: 8:30--6:00 Lift D: 8:40--3:50 Lift E: 9:00-3:50 Snow Escalator: CLOSED for repairs Kitanomine Zone: Lift F: 8:30--6:00 Lift G: 8:45--3:50 Lift H: 9:00--3:50 Lift K (Gondola): 9:00--3:50 Kitanomine snow escalator: 9:00-12:00, 1:00-3:30 Furano Now 2025-2026 season Data as of Monday 9th February 2026 Total snowfall at base 463cm Number of days snowfall observed at base 54 days Most snowfall observed in 1 day 30cm (6th December) November 2025 snowfall 45cm reported on 5 days December 2025 snowfall 234cm reported on 22 days January 2026 snowfall 163cm reported on 22 days February 2026 snowfall 21cm reported on 5 days Previous report Next report All snowfall data presented on this page is the snowfall measured and observed at base/town level by our reporter based in Furano. It felt quite windy too just before when I was outside. Lifts all seem to be planning on moving this morning and it actually seems to be getting brighter with the sun trying to break through in places as I am about to put this report online. That's all I got this morning! I hope you have a fine day. ------------------------------------ Niseko Avalanche Report Moiwa Base -12°C, 20cm snowfall, calm. Gates are scheduled to open, but follow the instructions of the ski patrol. Skiing in the three strictly prohibited areas seems to have become the norm. If caught, you will be banned from using the resort in the future. This place is a ski resort, and all users must follow the regulations. The Niseko Rules are strict with those who violate it. Based on observations, the avalanche risk is low. Nothing is certain in this sport. Do not be overconfident. Only caution prevents accidents. There was someone who lined up at the gate without any gear, didn’t know where they were, and ended up at Goshiki Onsen. The riding skill is not the only requirement. Niseko permits out-of-bounds skiing, but the premise is that you are not ignorant, reckless, or lacking common sense. Do not cut below cornices or across knolls. These can sometimes trigger avalanches. There are many people in the valleys below you, please be considerate of others. Stay alert for sudden weather changes. Have a great day. • Nozawa Now: Monday 9th February 2026

Independent snow and weather reporting from the Nozawa Onsen region of Nagano New snowfall at base 50cm Snowfall at base this season 674cm Posted on Monday 9th February 2026 This is an archived report. The latest Nozawa Now report can be found here . Good morning from Nozawa. Some more curious snowfall numbers from the ski area this morning, which is saying 50cm at the lower Hikage and 'only' 30cm on top of the mountain. Those are numbers since yesterday afternoon. The snow really got stuck in from around 11am yesterday morning.... Still, 30cm is good in itself so - result! The JMA snowfall number from Karasawa is 46cm, and I also concur with the 50cm. A very good showing all round. Lots of people waiting for first lifts to get out and play in it all, too. Can't say I blame them. I bet Naski will be out there too, today. There has never been a vegetable as gnarly. Oh yes it is quite windy but lifts seem to be working. Having said that, there appears to be some checking going on with the Hikage gondola early morning. We might get some sun tomorrow. ---------------------------- Fresh snowfall since yesterday afternoon (reported by the ski area): Yamabiko: 30cm Uenotaira: 30cm Hikage: 50cm Nagasaka: 52cm Karasawa: 30cm Official snow depth numbers (reported by the ski area): Yamabiko: 300cm Uenotaira: 250cm Hikage: 190cm Nagasaka: 180cm Karasawa: 160cm Scheduled lift operations: All operating except Challenge pair and Utopia pair [normal weekday operations] Courses that are not available (when the ski area is operating as normal): All open Information on the ski area: Nozawa Onsen Nozawa Now 2025-2026 season Data as of Monday 9th February 2026 Total snowfall at base 674cm Number of days snowfall observed at base 40 days Most snowfall observed in 1 day 76cm (on 25th January) November 2025 snowfall 15cm reported on 1 day December 2025 snowfall 134cm reported on 11 days January 2026 snowfall 438cm reported on 22 days February 2026 snowfall 87cm reported on 6 days Previous report Next report All snowfall data presented on this page is the snowfall measured and observed at base/town level by our reporter based in Nozawa Onsen. • Myoko Now: Sunday 8th February 2026

Independent snow and weather reporting from the Myoko region of Niigata New snowfall at base 24cm Snowfall at base this season 964cm Posted on Sunday 8th February 2026 This is an archived report. The latest Myoko Now report can be found here . Snow seems to be falling all over Japan today, and it really started to pick up here in Myoko from about 7 this morning. Coming down hard now, maybe at three or four centimeters an hour. Good day for noontime snowthrowing. And it’s cold as well, so it’s nice out there. The trains are not running into Myokokogen Station today, if you happen to be on the road in. It was really coming down in Joetsu City, just to the north of us on the seacoast. They get some crazy winds coming off the ocean with winter storms, too, so I know they try to be careful about operating the trains. Many of the rural roads out on the plain there have wind fencing that rotates into position to block those Japan Sea gusts. Keep an eye out over the next day or so, as the winds here are predicted to get stronger in the afternoon and into tomorrow. Some lifts may close, particularly the top lifts and gondolas, due to the wind. As always, with this much new, loose, uncompacted snow, go out there with a friend (especially the boarders). Go in headfirst and you’ll need a buddy to pull you out. Better to do that, be embarrassed and have a laugh, rather than the more unpleasant alternative (which does happen, and too often). But let’s be positive—look at all that powder snow coming down! Think of the fun! This is a day for the serious skier! • Niseko Now: Sunday 8th February 2026

Independent snow and weather reporting from the Niseko region of Hokkaido New snowfall at base 6cm Snowfall at base this season 738cm Good morning from a cold and sunny Niseko. Looking over to our east, the beautiful Mt. Yotei is looking particularly fetching this morning and wearing what looks like a flat-cap (cloud) as I write this. Very fashionable. It is a lovely morning with some nice blue sky (and some cloud). Lots of contrast. It should be a particularly feel-good morning with another modest delivery of snow; again perhaps more to the south/west. Perhaps around 20cm of fresh to enjoy at higher elevations this morning? Annupuri is reporting a winning 25cm; much less at Hanazono, and Hirafu isn't reporting yet. All lifts set to go and gates expected to open. Even the Country Road one! Yey. Lots of people lined up waiting as the first lifts get going. ------------------------------------ Niseko Avalanche Report Moiwa base 6am: -12℃, calm, 20cm snowfall. Moiwa 800m: -13.9℃, W2.4m/s, 20cm new snow, calm. Annupuri 1100m: -16.1℃, WNW6.3m/s. Hirafu Hanazono 1000m: -15.5℃, N5.2m/s(15m/s @ 3am). Hanazono 800m: -12.1℃, WNW3.6m/s. Coastal data: Benkei Cape WNW10m/s, Kamui Cape SW15m/s, 1004hPa, 1.8m waves. There is a strong cold air inflow; above 1100m a weak front is passing, winds will temporarily increase to a W10m/s with gusts to 15m/s. There is no significant snowdrifts development and the lower 150cm of recent snowfall has consolidated. Tests indicate low avalanche risk. All gates are expected to be open, please follow the patrol instructions. Snowfall: 20cm on the west side, 10cm on the east side, resetting with light crystalline snow. Avoid simultaneous skiing on steep, open slopes. Stay out of the valley bottoms. Avoid cornices, as they can sometimes trigger avalanches. The wind was strong over the last few days and the snow is unevenly distributed. Ski with caution. There is no 100% safety in this sport. Are your beacons on? Do you have a probe, shovel, and short rope? What about emergency food? This information is provided to ensure the safety of off-piste skiers in Niseko. Cortina, 47 and Goryu all reporting 10cm of fresh on upper areas this morning, with up to around 5cm around base.
