Independent snow and weather reporting from the Myoko region of Niigata

New snowfall at base 16cm
Snowfall at base this season 1030cm

Posted on Thursday 12th February 2026 This is an archived report. The latest Myoko Now report can be found here.

Cooler today; some sun in the sky but enough clouds to hopefully keep the snow nice and light.

It was fun in the backcountry yesterday, with nice snow up high, but increasingly heavy/sun-affected snow further down. Everything seems to be going very smoothly, in fact. Lifts are going (the old ones are being pretty steady, with no long stops like we had last year).

Looks like lots of sun and warm on the weekend. Spring skiing, round one!
