Independent snow and weather reporting from the Hakuba region of Nagano

New snowfall at base 4cm
Snowfall at base this season 319cm

Posted on Thursday 12th February 2026 This is an archived report. The latest Hakuba Now report can be found here.

Greetings Hakuba-loving friends.

I had to get out on the slopes early this morning to help a few friends visiting. Only out for a few hours but it was really nice out there.

There's some cloud about but quite a lot of blue sky and sunshine.

Lovely morning and while it was cold early on it is mild-ing up. (Or whatever the word is!)

Goryu is winning the reported snowfall prize this morning, claiming 15cm in upper areas. Up at 47 I'd say there was around 10cm or so on the sides.

OK, so we are looking at several days of clear weather, sunshine and warmer temperatures.

It is good to see that it should be getting colder again come Monday, but not immediate resets on the horizon.

Enjoy what we have!
