It's just a cloudy start to the day in Yuzawa and darker than how yesterday started off. If the local forecast is to be believed, snow is imminent and a decent amount of snow is promised in the coming 24+ hours... it should be snowing through tomorrow before easing off by Sunday. It's about +2 degrees at the moment and so the mild conditions continue but it should get colder as the day goes on.

Calmer this morning and just generally cloudy and overcast at the moment. It is bright and perhaps there's a chance of us getting some blue skies above later on.

As I write this report I can hear really noisy wind blowing about outside. Wasn't like that just a short while ago. Though from early on winds have been affecting Kagura with the Tashiro area closed this morning and Kagura only open from the Mitsumata Ropeway to the main quad.

The snow continued to fall from the skies yesterday and really quite heavily at times. Felt good to see it all coming down and there was probably 30cm or so during the day. I know I had to move that much off the top of the car total in two goes yesterday as it quickly built up. That's what we like to see! You'll notice lots of the resorts adding a big chunk of new snow to their numbers below over the last few days too.

Yesterday a few friends of mine who live in the Niigata city area were telling me of the chaos that 'heavy snow' was causing up there - all while it was just snowing very lightly here in this part of the Prefecture.

It's a bright morning in Yuzawa. The sun has been winning the battle with the clouds, but lots of (cloud) shadows being cast down on the slopes around town, making for some dramatic scenery. I feel that more cloud has been gathering though and snow is actually forecast for the region during the day today and into tomorrow.

There was some decent snowfall yesterday and overnight on the mountains with Kagura telling us they got 30-40cm of fresh snow since yesterday.

We are back to much more winterlike conditions this morning in Yuzawa. It's cold (-5 in town), snow is falling and there's a moderate wind as well. Resorts around town are reporting up to 10cm of fresh snow since yesterday.

The snow yesterday didn't really amount to much more than a dusting at town level and the resorts aren't reporting any fresh this morning. This morning the sun has been out. Some thin wispy cloud up there but generally blue skies.

Light somewhat wet snow earlier this morning in Yuzawa, but actually some bigger flakes of snow are falling right now outside. Just a dusting really at town level and a bit more on the mountains but with snow forecast for the day hopefully it can build up a bit.

Rain, rain. Yes we got more than our fair share of it yesterday. Back in Minamiuonuma last night it was really pounding down as well. Can't have done us any favours and this morning the snow depth numbers of the resorts are mostly taking a dip. Let's try to get past that....

No new snow to report this morning from the town or on the slopes, and while there was a few flurries of snow earlier on, and it is generally just been cloudy up there. But actually the sun is out right now with some blue sky on show and while the forecast is for a cloudy day it might well be one of those days when things clear up.

Yesterday wasn't one of the days to remember from this season, generally ending up wet with rain persisting into the evening. Last thing I looked it was sleet later on and this morning we do have some new snowfall to report around town. Perhaps around 5cm and the ski resorts are reporting 3-10cm of fresh snow this morning.

Light rain on and off this morning around town, with grey skies above the region. At the moment it isn't raining here in central Yuzawa but just a short while I was over near Yuzawa Park and it was raining. So changeable conditions this morning though more consistent rain is likely this afternoon.
