I promised myself that I'd get out an early report--which is good, except that the official snow reports haven't been updated locally yet (except for Ikenotaira).

Such a nice day; so busy in the morning. All that blowing, accumulating snow was there sparkling in the early morning sunlight (and an early-morning ski lesson meant I didn't get my time at the desk).

It's a blizzard out there this morning, with strong winds and pretty good snowfall. It's hard to tell how much has actually fallen, with a lot of drifting of snow around buildings and cars.

Merry/Happy Christmas everyone! A really nice day in Myoko, after the good snows of yesterday. Clear to the east, still some snow falling high up over the mountains.

The snow is really falling today; a pretty solid wet base from the rain and wet snow yesterday slowly turned to some really nice powder overnight, and it's still falling pretty heavily at midday.

Late report today, but not a great weather day today, not a great weather report at the moment, but things will be looking up tomorrow. I firmly believe.

After some sun yesterday, the snow started again in the afternoon. A little less than 20 cm by the morning--heavier than what we've had recently, but it's still snow! The base keeps building, and more resorts keep on opening.

Oh, that powder snow is here. Really light, fluffy, powder snow--not what you'd expect in December, but really nice.

Just as that snow level is going down, we have some fresh falling in Myoko. As I've siad a few times, things are often pretty marginal until right around Christmas here, so things are still looking good.

A nicer day today and a little colder, although the snow is melting pretty quickly in the sun. The weather should start to turn around later today and into the week, so hopefully we'll start building the base up again.

If the first day of skiing turned out to be much better than it seemed at first (if a bit warm through the day), today is a good day to...well, not not go skiing--we'd never say that--but to dress warmly. Or dryly.

I'm glad I didn't report first thing in the morning as I would have had to write things like, "An inauspicious start to the season" (even though I'm totally not superstitious) because things are looking, well, OK.

The season is about to start; not much new on the snow front, but there's a good solid base to get things going on.

Nothing much happened snow-wise yesterday, so I kinda jumped a day.... We haven't been hit by the huge snows that have fallen further northeast, but that's OK, too (no avalanches, no highway closures around here yet).
