It's a blizzard out there this morning, with strong winds and pretty good snowfall. It's hard to tell how much has actually fallen, with a lot of drifting of snow around buildings and cars.

The wind is strong enough, in fact, that there's a good chance that some of the lifts might not be running at all times, especially gondolas and some of the more exposed lifts. You might want to check with the individual areas' websites, if someone has the required Japanese reading skills.

In sheltered areas, though, there could be some very nice powder out there; temperatures are pretty low and staying there this morning.

Calmer (and perhaps clearer conditions) likely tomorrow.
