It was just cloudy earlier on, but it is raining very lightly just now as I write this (and the Chuo area that is open is reporting that too).

Good morning from Zao on this Monday morning... and what is the first official day of the ski season.

I have a decent amount of snow to report from Zao base this morning. A little over 15cm and it is continuing to fall.

Not a massive amount by any stretch but about 2cm on the car and a thin covering of snow around base.

Warmer conditions for early week with decent snowfall due later in the coming week.

Just a little more snow to report, less than 2cm, but continued cold and wintery conditions this morning.

That's it folks! Yesterday (2nd May) ended up being the last day of the ski season here in Zao Onsen.

Lots of cloud (and fog) and a bit of rain this morning, and no real news to report at the moment regarding lift operations and course opening.

We had some fresh snow yesterday in a return to winter-like conditions. Always very good to see that happen and a bonus for everyone who was able to be here to enjoy it.

I have some fresh snow to report this morning! Almost 3cm here on the ground.

It is snowing (with some on the ground) and strong winds are blowing this morning... affecting a number of higher lifts and gondolas.

Rain happened, I'm afraid. Never nice to see in winter.
