Independent snow and weather reporting from the Yuzawa & Minamiuonuma region of Niigata

New snowfall at base 2cm
Snowfall at base this seas 1243cm

Posted on Monday 31st March 2025 This is an archived report. The latest Yuzawa Now report can be found here.

Kagura is reporting 5cm of fresh snowfall since yesterday. We did get some snow falling in town yesterday (and this morning) but it didn't really amount to much... the roads never got covered, but there has been just under 2cm at our the measuring point since yesterday and a little on top of the car.

Early this morning we have cloudy skies with some light snow still falling in places. There have been some limited early hints of blue sky behind the clouds appearing in places. Forecasts do seem to say that we might get at least some blue sky sometime this morning/early afternoon.

Today is the last day of the ski season for Muica Snow Resort in Minamiuonuma and Yuzawa Park in Yuzawa.

A few ski areas are now entering the last week of the season (Ishiuchi Maruyama, NASPA Ski Garden, Joetsu Kokusai, Yuzawa Kogen) and they are all offering downscaled operations. Please see the list below for details of what remains open at each.

Some precipitation is expected during the day tomorrow. It will likely be rain in town, but perhaps snow at higher elevations.
