Independent snow and weather reporting from the Nozawa Onsen region of Nagano
New snowfall at base 40cm
Snowfall at base this season 625cm
Posted on Saturday 8th March 2014 This is an archived report. The latest Nozawa Now report can be found here.
You'll have to forgive me for today I am in Nagano and this report is coming to you courtesy of the Nozawa official site and a call to a friend over in Nozawa. So it's not coming from my own eyes!
Now I don't know if a trick is being played on me, but here's what the resort is reporting this morning:
Yamabiko - 30cm
Uenotaira - 60cm
Hikage - 40cm
Nagasaka - 40cm
Karasawa - 40cm
That's new snowfall since yesterday afternoon.
What's more, the sun is out and lots of blue sky. It's keeping cold, -4C in the village as of 8am and just a light breeze.
Wow. And here's me stuck in Nagano. Talk about bad timing.
I'm hearing it is very busy this morning - as you might expect - but conditions are going to be top notch today with more snow likely before the end of the weekend.
I need to get back there and see if this isn't just some cruel trick!
Official snow depths:
Yamabiko - 370cm
Uenotaira - 310cm
Hikage - 220cm
Nagasaka - 205cm
Karasawa - 150cm
