Independent snow and weather reporting from the Nozawa Onsen region of Nagano

New snowfall at base 1cm
Snowfall at base this season 380cm

Posted on Wednesday 7th February 2024 This is an archived report. The latest Nozawa Now report can be found here.

After that fresh snow to enjoy yesterday, just 5cm to report from top areas this morning (as per ski area) and a dusting+ around base areas.

There is quite a lot of cloud around but some blue sky too and the sun breaking through the clouds in places. Feels like it might clear up and be a fine day, though forecasts also show the chance of more cloud and perhaps light snow later on, so it might not last.

Fresh snowfall since yesterday afternoon (reported by the ski area):

Yamabiko: 5cm

Uenotaira: 5cm

Hikage: 1cm

Nagasaka: 1cm

Karasawa: 1cm

Official snow depth numbers (reported by the ski area):

Yamabiko: 225cm

Uenotaira: 190cm

Hikage: 100cm

Nagasaka: 100cm

Karasawa: 70cm
