Independent snow and weather reporting from the Nozawa Onsen region of Nagano

New snowfall at base 1cm
Snowfall at base this season 800cm

Posted on Tuesday 5th March 2019 This is an archived report. The latest Nozawa Now report can be found here.

Well, with a rather wet day yesterday I wasn't thinking I'd have much good news to report this morning.

But! The resort is actually reporting up to 15cm of fresh snow on the top Yamabiko area and 3cm on the Hikage and Nagasaka lower areas. So that is a nice surprise and I am being somewhat kind awarding a cm for the report this morning. Bit of goodwill going on there. ;)

This morning early on visibility looks very limited on those top areas, but the forecast shows a good chance of sun so it will probably clear up.

More snow there on the forecast for around Thursday too.

Fresh snowfall reported by the ski resort (since yesterday morning):

- Yamabiko (1407m): 15cm

- Uenotaira (1230m): 12cm

- Hikage (660m): 3cm

- Nagasaka (615m): 3cm

- Karasawa (563m): -cm

Official snow depth numbers (reported by resort):

- Yamabiko (1407m): 275cm

- Uenotaira (1230m): 240cm

- Hikage (660m): 140cm
