Independent snow and weather reporting from the Nozawa Onsen region of Nagano

New snowfall at base 5cm
Snowfall at base this season 145cm

Posted on Sunday 5th January 2014 This is an archived report. The latest Nozawa Now report can be found here.

Last day of the new year holidays and today will likely get less busy with people returning home. There's still a lot of people around this morning though and those going up onto the slopes will be greeted by a new layer of snow.

OK so how about that snow? Well, including the snowfall during the day yesterday the resort is reporting new snowfall since my last report of 18cm on Yamabiko, 15cm on Uenotaira, 16cm at Hikage and 6cm on the lower Karasawa.

Light snow early this morning but the forecast for the day is for mostly just cloudy conditions.

Temperatures should be keeping cold, perhaps warming up a bit around Wednesday to be followed by another dip and possibly decent snowfall from Thursday.

Official snow depths:

Yamabiko - 210cm

Uenotaira - 175cm

Hikage - 100cm

Nagasaka - 95cm

Karasawa - 65cm
