New snowfall at base 15cm
Snowfall at base this season 160cm
Posted on Tuesday 7th January 2014 This is an archived report. The latest Nozawa Now report can be found here.
Yesterday we got another 15cm or so of new snowfall on the mountain during the day.
Snow eased off during the night though and they have done a runner as this morning it's clear blue skies over Nozawa.
A beautiful morning.
It's also a very cold morning as well, with the temperature about -7 degrees now. The resort have just reported a temperature of -12C on the top Yamabiko area.
Heavy snow is still there on the forecast and due to be falling by the end of tomorrow and through Thursday. We might have to put up with some rain at base before the snow, but it should be worth it. Hopefully we might get a run of consistent snowfall right through into the weekend and really bulk up the amount of snow we have here. I very much look forward to it.
For now though, it's a beautiful day to be out on the mountain and definitely one to be enjoyed.
