Independent snow and weather reporting from the Nozawa Onsen region of Nagano

New snowfall at base 10cm
Snowfall at base this season 140cm

Posted on Friday 3rd January 2014 This is an archived report. The latest Nozawa Now report can be found here.

The sun is out this morning over Nozawa and we have lovely (almost) clear blue skies.

Nice and cold.

Yesterday was more about the snow and it was snowing from early in the morning, quite heavily at times. The resort recorded between 5-15cm of snow between 8am and 4pm during the day (interestingly with the 15cm in the Hikage area, not top Yamabiko - which recorded 5cm). Wind may have played a part there though.

Anyway there's no new snowfall this morning since yesterday.

It should be a very fine day, with perhaps a return to snowfall tomorrow.

Official snow depths:

Yamabiko - 205cm

Uenotaira - 170cm

Hikage - 95cm

Nagasaka - 85cm

Karasawa - 65cm
