Good morning to you all from Nozawa.
2020 has been many things, but this winter season has got off to a snowy start this time round. With the snowfall I am reporting in this report, I have now observed close on 3m of snowfall at base - and there's going to be a fair bit more than that up on the top areas of the mountain.
Since yesterday morning Nozawa is reporting 30-73cm of snowfall across the mountain, and I have just measured 40cm.
It's not giving up either, and will probably be snowing right through until Sunday.
A cold morning and while visibility is ok on the lower areas it's somewhat limited on the top Yamabiko area as I post this report.
Fresh snowfall recorded by the resort (since yesterday morning):
- Yamabiko (1407m): 73cm
- Uenotaira (1230m): 53cm
- Hikage (660m): 35cm
- Nagasaka (615m): 35cm
- Karasawa (563m): 30cm
Official snow depth numbers (reported by the ski area):
- Yamabiko (1407m): 240cm
- Uenotaira (1230m): 185cm
- Hikage (660m): 140cm
- Nagasaka (615m): 135cm
