Independent snow and weather reporting from the Nozawa Onsen region of Nagano

New snowfall at base 20cm
Snowfall at base this season 811cm

Posted on Monday 2nd February 2015 This is an archived report. The latest Nozawa Now report can be found here.

More snow in Nozawa to report this morning as the complete mountain-wide refresh continues.

Resort reporting up to another 40cm of new snowfall since yesterday.

Some very fine deep conditions to be found this morning, and less people to compete for them. Not that it's a competition of course. ;)

It is a cold morning and the snow continues to fall here in this north east corner of Nagano, and snow is forecast for the day and into tomorrow though some of the forecasts have it easing off tomorrow. Once we get past this bunch of snow clouds we should have a few days of cloud and the chance of some short-lived sun at times. Doesn't look like there's significant snow for the rest of the week.

Doesn't matter for now anyway. Excellent conditions to be found out there.

Fresh snow to report this morning since yesterday:

Yamabiko - 30cm

Uenotaira - 40cm

Hikage - 20cm

Nagasaka - 17cm

Karasawa - 15cm

Official snow depths:

Yamabiko - 450cm

Uenotaira - 400cm

Hikage - 290cm

Nagasaka - 280cm

Karasawa - 235cm
