A very good morning to you from Nozawa.
And indeed a good morning it is and a fine start to February. Yes, these are the kinds of days that I particularly enjoy reporting on.
As you might have guessed, there's a ton of snow to report this morning.
Resort reports 40-45cm of snow across the mountain this morning and that's not counting what we got during the day yesterday, so I would guess a good 1/2m. How's that for a refresh. Nozawa-tastic! Love it!
It's a cold morning, snow condition down here even looks great, so I would expect some fantastic conditions up on the top areas in particular where it was apparently -10 degrees as of 7:30am. Wrap up well folks.
Limited visibility up there as well by the looks though better lower down.
Looks like the Kamoshika and Tanuki courses are closed this morning, no doubt due to the fresh snow and associated possible dangers. Hopefully they can get those open again soon.
Forecast for the day is continued snowfall easing off into tomorrow.
Deep snow conditions are what we dream of, but do remember the dangers and keep safe out there. Have fun.
Fresh snow to report this morning since yesterday:
Yamabiko - 40cm
Uenotaira - 45cm
Hikage - 45cm
Nagasaka - 45cm
Karasawa - 40cm
Official snow depths:
Yamabiko - 430cm
Uenotaira - 375cm
Hikage - 275cm
Nagasaka - 270cm
Karasawa - 230cm
