Independent snow and weather reporting from the Nozawa Onsen region of Nagano

New snowfall at base 12cm
Snowfall at base this season 513cm

Posted on Sunday 28th January 2018 This is an archived report. The latest Nozawa Now report can be found here.

It is a cold morning again but it feels like we are now past the peak of that storm we have had. There's some more snow from yesterday and overnight. The fresh snowfall numbers below are from 3pm yesterday and overnight - sorry, I missed the numbers the resort was publishing during the day yesterday... so the totals will be more. My own observation is 12cm of fresh snowfall here at base.

All should be open this morning and if things clear up like they seem likely to, we should be in for an all round fantastic day. I'm off out to enjoy it.

Fresh snowfall since yesterday (as reported by the resort):

- Yamabiko (1407m): 20cm

- Uenotaira (1230m): 10cm

- Hikage (660m): 5cm

- Nagasaka (615m): 5cm

- Karasawa (563m): 5cm

Official snow depth numbers:

- Yamabiko (1407m): 340cm

- Uenotaira (1230m): 275cm

- Hikage (660m): 200cm

- Nagasaka (615m): 195cm

- Karasawa (563m): 170cm

Lifts operations:

- All scheduled lifts appear to be operating as normal.

- The Yunomine pair, Mizunashi triple, Challenge pair and Utopia pair lifts usually rested on weekdays.

The following courses either closed (or not fully available):

- Grand Prix

- Kamoshika

- Kandahar
