Independent snow and weather reporting from the Nozawa Onsen region of Nagano

New snowfall at base 18cm
Snowfall at base this season 223cm

Posted on Thursday 28th December 2017 This is an archived report. The latest Nozawa Now report can be found here.

Morning everyone.

More snow to report to you this morning and it continues to fall.

The resort are reporting up to 50cm on the upper slopes overnight with 10cm on the ground in lower areas. There was a lot of wind around yesterday and that I think is affecting my measured number, 18cm. I am pretty sure there has been more than that, but that's what is being measured this morning.

Whatever, lots of fresh new snow over the last few days and conditions should be really great this morning.

Limited visibility especially on upper areas of the mountain.

We can perhaps expect less snow today and tomorrow, but the snow clouds are due to remain over the region so I will probably be bringing you fresh numbers.

Over the weekend there might be some calmer and even clearer skies with more good snow potential on the forecast for early in the week. That would be a very good start to January.

Enjoy!
