Independent snow and weather reporting from the Nozawa Onsen region of Nagano

New snowfall at base 12cm
Snowfall at base this season 396cm

Posted on Friday 27th January 2023 This is an archived report. The latest Nozawa Now report can be found here.

Yesterday, I did indeed go and check the snow. And fine it was too. All in the name of duty of course. The things I have to do for you all!

This morning the ski area is reporting another 10cm in lower areas and 17cm at Yamabiko. There was 3cm reported by Yamabiko at 3pm yesterday, making it 20cm up there since yesterday. So, there should be another nice new layer.

Some light snow earlier this morning, though it is just cloudy right now. We might get some light snow during the day today, with heavier snow due tonight and over the weekend. It is going to remain cold too; hopefully wind won't be a nuisance.

Come prepared for a snowy mid-winter weekend.

- Yamabiko: 20cm

- Uenotaira: 10cm
