New snowfall at base 5cm
Snowfall at base this season 512cm
Posted on Monday 17th January 2022 This is an archived report. The latest Nozawa Now report can be found here.
The snow is back. Just a little so far with more due through tomorrow. It has started to come down nicely now and Naski has some snow already on his/her 'head' (?!), or top bit.
Looks like today the following lifts will not be moving: Skyline, Challenge, Utopia pair, Nagasaka quad, Karasawa pair. Not hearing the reason for some of those, but there's this too...
A few members of staff at the ski area/related businesses have been confirmed as testing positive for covid in the last few days. The ski area is being upfront about this and reporting it clearly on their website. I noticed similar stories on the Yuzawa and Hakuba reports recently, and also the Niseko report just posted this morning. This new wave is starting to become 'an issue' again. Currently there are no restrictions at all, with everyone relying on everyone being good and doing their best to prevent infections. We can only hope it stays that way.
Fresh snowfall recorded by the ski area (total since yesterday morning):
- Yamabiko (1615m): 5cm
- Uenotaira (1407m): 5cm
- Hikage (660m): ?cm
- Nagasaka (616m): 3cm
- Karasawa (563m): ?cm
Official snow depth numbers (reported by the ski area):
- Yamabiko (1615m): 295cm
- Uenotaira (1407m): 250cm
- Hikage (660m): 220cm
- Nagasaka (616m): 210cm
- Karasawa (563m): 145cm
All courses apart from the following plan to be open:
- Yunomine A
- Grand Prix
Planned operating lifts:
- Subject to weather conditions all lifts should be open. See above main report for specific info for this morning.
- The Utopia and Challenge pair lifts are normally rested on weekdays.
- The top Yamabiko A-D courses close at 3:20pm until 27th March (at 3:10pm after that).
- Skyline course closes at 4:10pm.
- The Nagasaka quad lift is open for night skiing 11th-12th Feb (subject to change).
