Independent snow and weather reporting from the Nozawa Onsen region of Nagano

New snowfall at base 1cm
Snowfall at base this season 672cm

Posted on Tuesday 16th February 2021 This is an archived report. The latest Nozawa Now report can be found here.

Good morning from Nozawa.

Glad we got yesterday out of the way! Rain, not good.

But having said that... at 8pm yesterday the resort was reporting 10cm of fresh snow at Yamabiko and 1cm at Uenotaira. This morning an additional 15cm is being reported in those top areas. That definitely sounds like a result to me, considering.

Down here at base, it is clearly colder, and there has just been what can really be called a thin coating of white by early morning. Light snow falling at the start of the day. We might get more snow today and tonight but the most seems to be expected tomorrow and Thursday...

Fresh snowfall recorded by the resort (since yesterday morning):

- Yamabiko (1407m): 25cm

- Uenotaira (1230m): 16cm

- Hikage (660m): 0cm

- Nagasaka (615m): 0cm

- Karasawa (563m): 0cm
