Independent snow and weather reporting from the Nozawa Onsen region of Nagano

New snowfall at base 33cm
Snowfall at base this season 225cm

Posted on Sunday 14th January 2024 This is an archived report. The latest Nozawa Now report can be found here.

Good morning from Nozawa. And what a beautiful Sunday it promises to be.

It's a cold start. There is some low cloud hanging over some base areas, but that will surely quickly disappear. The sun is going to take control today and make everywhere look so very inviting.

And, oh yes, lots of fresh snow too from yesterday. At 3pm yesterday the ski area was reporting 15cm of snowfall Hikage to top, and this morning there seems to be an additional 30cm. By my calculations, hold on, that's 45cm since yesterday on the mountain. My measurement adds up to 33cm. Sounds like Nozawa, right? Whatever, sounds great.

Naski will be pleased. As will we all. And! We are still expecting a fair amount of snow from tonight through Tuesday.

Hopefully we might get to see Skyline open sometime soon....
