Independent snow and weather reporting from the Nozawa Onsen region of Nagano

New snowfall at base 3cm
Snowfall at base this season 922cm

Posted on Monday 14th February 2022 This is an archived report. The latest Nozawa Now report can be found here.

Just a little snowfall overnight with the ski area itself reporting up to 12cm on upper runs. If the forecasts are correct, the early morning clouds - and lingering snow in upper areas - will be clearing and we will get some sunshine today. It does not feel like it right now as it's kind of grey and dull, but things can often change quickly.

After a relatively busy weekend, we are now back to a plain old Monday morning. So things will once again be pretty quiet. If the sun does come out, should be a good morning.

Fresh snowfall recorded by the ski area (since early yesterday morning):

- Yamabiko (1615m): 12cm

- Uenotaira (1407m): 2cm

- Hikage (660m): 0cm

- Nagasaka (616m): 0cm

- Karasawa (563m): 0cm

Official snow depth numbers (reported by the ski area):

- Yamabiko (1615m): 380cm

- Uenotaira (1407m): 330cm

- Hikage (660m): 300cm

- Nagasaka (616m): 290cm

- Karasawa (563m): 215cm

All courses apart from the following plan to be open:

- Yunomine A

Various info:

- Rested lifts today: Karasawa pair, Yunomine pair, Mizunashi triple.

- Subject to weather conditions all lifts that plan to be open should be ok.

- The top Yamabiko A-D courses close at 3:20pm until 27th March (at 3:10pm after that).
