Independent snow and weather reporting from the Myoko region of Niigata

New snowfall at base 20cm
Snowfall at base this season 711cm

Posted on Wednesday 7th January 2015 This is an archived report. The latest Myoko Now report can be found here.

There is wind out there today; the flags on the bamboos marking the driveway are out at 90° and flapping away.

Hard to tell how much snow has fallen - the wind has blown the fresh away in some areas, piled it up in others (let's say a good average of 20cm).

It's also blowing in from the north, and a quick glance at the Coast Guard's website tells us that the wind is at 20 meters per second (really fast for those unfamiliar with the system).

Be ready for some lift closures, especially the gondolas.

Only Ikenotaira, with 260cm base and -3°, has reported today.

Hey, at least the rain that we had yesterday is gone!
