Independent snow and weather reporting from the Myoko region of Niigata

New snowfall at base 8cm
Snowfall at base this season 292cm

Posted on Saturday 4th January 2014 This is an archived report. The latest Myoko Now report can be found here.

After a beautiful sunny day yesterday, the snow is back today.

Not a huge accumulation so far, but the wind has shifted at the base of Akakan to the north—always a good sign—with the fog that often accompanies new snowfall.

No dramas today; just time to get out, ski, and hopefully see a good build-up of the snowpack (i.e. skiing on the soft stuff again).
