Independent snow and weather reporting from the Myoko region of Niigata

New snowfall at base 3cm
Snowfall at base this season 1128cm

Posted on Wednesday 30th January 2019 This is an archived report. The latest Myoko Now report can be found here.

Nice and sunny out there today. Yesterday's snow has really settled nicely, so hopefully things are a little more stable off in the backcountry.

Just a little more snow fell through the morning yesterday before the snow stopped. I noticed all the neighbors were taking advantage of the break to get things cleared off (and I was up on a roof, too, getting that weight off the building).

Could be snow again from tomorrow, perhaps heavy into evening.

That freezing line is going to head up over the weekend, though, so even rain might fall on the resort if the freezing does in fact go up to 2100 meters. I hope not...
