That great big snowstorm that triggered heavy snow warnings all across Niigata is... missing. Some very nice, light snow fell overnight, but less than 10cm of it (the resorts are reporting a bit more, and there may have been more snow up high). It's still snowing a bit in the hills, and it looks plenty dark and gray to the north over the ocean, but there definitely is not a lot of powder out there this morning.

Not that it would be a bad day for skiing, at least on the groomed slopes. It's sunny/partly cloudy at base level right now, the snow is firm (and probably not as hard as yesterday), and your hangover has most likely disappeared by now. So get out there, enjoy what we have, and see if that big fall actually comes true.

All snowfall data presented on this page is the snowfall measured and observed at base/town level by our reporter based in Myoko. The 'new snowfall' number represents the amount of snow measured since the previous report. All opinions are those of the individual reporters. Information regarding ski area operations is manually checked every morning and is believed to be correct at the time of the report.
