Independent snow and weather reporting from the Myoko region of Niigata
New snowfall at base 1cm
Snowfall at base this season 733cm
Posted on Monday 29th February 2016 This is an archived report. The latest Myoko Now report can be found here.
The day started with high winds during the night, and moved into (ugh) rain earlier.
But, as predicted, that freezing line is coming down the hill fast, and we are now seeing light snow outside. We have some pretty strong winds coming in offshore from the west, which hopefully is a good sign that we might end February with solid snowfall later in the day. Those winds already brought the snowpack down a bit, so any snow now is really welcome (needed, even).
And even as I'm writing here, the winds are shifting around a bit to the west, and the snow is starting to pick up. Looks really good out there. Hope to be back tomorrow with some good news.
