Independent snow and weather reporting from the Myoko region of Niigata
New snowfall at base 25cm
Snowfall at base this season 1403cm
Posted on Saturday 28th February 2015 This is an archived report. The latest Myoko Now report can be found here.
An early start today, so a report without new information from the resorts.
A nice bit of powder overnight - not too much, maybe 25cm - but at least something to cover the ice.
Some pretty high winds during the night (got me up and listening).
It's an interesting situation out there right now; light snow is falling at base level, although we can see blue skies above the peaks, which occasionally pop out of the clouds. To the north, it's still pretty cloudy and gray.
Seems like a good idea to get out and enjoy; a high pressure system is coming in, with the threat of - dare we say it - rain tomorrow. Hope it doesn't work out that way...
