Independent snow and weather reporting from the Myoko region of Niigata

New snowfall at base 1cm
Snowfall at base this season 22cm

Posted on Saturday 21st December 2019 This is an archived report. The latest Myoko Now report can be found here.

It is white out there, barely. Snow started to fall in the late afternoon, but we really only got a dusting again. And it's a sunny day out there - there was cloud cover early this morning, but after a fast drive to Nagano I think it's actually fog that is now lifting/burning off.

As seemed likely, no additional resorts have opened. Interesting that Lotte Arai is reporting no new snow, but that their base has magically grown to 75cm (not that we would complain about more snow on the ground; just wonder about the reporting....). Now, I've been talking about a possible Christmas present, and it could snow a bit Monday. Keep hoping! Do those snow dances! Whatever it takes.
