Independent snow and weather reporting from the Myoko region of Niigata

New snowfall at base 10cm
Snowfall at base this season 417cm

Posted on Monday 1st February 2016 This is an archived report. The latest Myoko Now report can be found here.

The trees are covered in a nice, light coating of snow this morning. Not a huge amount of fresh, perhaps 10cm or a little more at the base of Akakan, but a welcome addition and snow continues to fall. It's the same small flakes that we've seen almost exclusively this year. We miss seeing those great big, vision-obscuring flakes falling hard and fast. Could still happen, since we're just now into February.

It's light, but it keeps on falling, and snow is on the forecast for all days except Thursday and then there is the chance of heavy snow on Friday. So it may not be a lot all at once, but it looks like we will get some additional snow added to the pack.
