Independent snow and weather reporting from the Myoko region of Niigata

New snowfall at base 3cm
Snowfall at base this season 1003cm

Posted on Monday 18th March 2024 This is an archived report. The latest Myoko Now report can be found here.

Wind overnight, with rain turning to snow by this morning. Not much snow, really, although it's coming down pretty steadily at the moment (and stopping as I put in the info below—going to be an on-and-off snow day).

We're starting to see some of the lifts closing already, with Suginohara down to two lifts only, and Tangram at three.

The wind is gusting from time to time, so lift closures are possible (the Kumado No. 1 at Akakura Onsen is closed, but may run depending on the wind; Lotte Arai's Zendana lift likewise, it seems).

Akakura Kanko:

250cm, -3°

Akakura Onsen:

255cm, -2°

Kumado No. 1 lift currently stopped by wind (it's the most exposed lift on the mountain, I'd say; winds right off the ocean)

Ikenotaira Onsen Alpen Blick:

230cm, -2° (st1ll no new update since 3/15)

Myoko Suginohara:

140cm, -7° (yesterday's report)

Gondola and Mitahara No. 2 lift

Kyukamura RunRun:

210cm, 1°

Seki Onsen:

280cm, 00° (not updating, it seems)

Tangram Madarao Tokyu Resort:

130cm, -2°

Three of five lifts running

Madarao Mountain Resort:

210cm, 7° (the report is dated today, but that's yesterday's information)

Lotte Arai Resort:

367cm, 4.6°

The Zendana lift may not be running due to wind

Kurohime Kogen Snow Park:

70cm, -2°
