Independent snow and weather reporting from the Myoko region of Niigata
New snowfall at base 70cm
Snowfall at base this season 271cm
Posted on Monday 15th December 2014 This is an archived report. The latest Myoko Now report can be found here.
Another late report here, thanks primarily to the last of the bonenkai—end of the year parties; they never stop—and the fact that once I got some coffee in it was time to go blow more snow. According to the highly accurate measure-the-leg-with-a-ruler method, we had another 70cm or so. Some blowing today might have added to that, but it was another good fall. More than the 10cm that Akakura Onsen reported.
It seems that Suginohara has decided to stay open on the weekdays this week as well.
Maybe it's all this snowfall (and maybe people are out there on the lifts!).
Anyway, it's a good start to the season, with some solid snowfall - and it was pretty solid snow today—more water than earlier falls.
Akakura Onsen:
170cm, -1/-3°
Kumado No. 1, 4, 5 lifts
Myoko Suginohara:
180cm, -3/-8°
Gondola only, today, then back next weekend
