Independent snow and weather reporting from the Myoko region of Niigata
New snowfall at base 2cm
Snowfall at base this season 781cm
Posted on Saturday 14th March 2020 This is an archived report. The latest Myoko Now report can be found here.
Man, it was warm yesterday; then, in the late afternoon, the fog rolled in as it got colder, and now snow is falling. Not a lot, and it's made up of little tiny crystals. It's enough, though, that the branches are starting to get white here at the base (could be more up high, if the usual trends hold).
It's getting pretty thin out there for a lot of places. Still not sure on Seki Onsen; they're not reported in the city's official page, and they haven't updated their figures and they were closed for a few days. Call ahead, I guess! Kurohime is reporting, but it's wait and see there. Nice if we got one more dump of 30+cm and everybody could open at least one more time. There's really only two weeks left on the official calendar for most resorts, but hate to see closings now.
