Independent snow and weather reporting from the Myoko region of Niigata

New snowfall at base 10cm
Snowfall at base this season 1013cm

Posted on Friday 14th March 2014 This is an archived report. The latest Myoko Now report can be found here.

Hello, and sorry to have been out for a few! Local obligations - sitting at a checkpoint for the cross country events of the Junior Olympics, held these two days in Myoko - and the fact that it was miserable, cold, bone-chilling rain all day yesterday.

Today we were sitting in snow and some pretty brisk winds, but it's always better in snow.

And it is snowing today, occasionally pretty heavily. Good news, as we move into the last weeks of the season. It sounds like most of the ski areas will be closing at the end of the month; more information when we get it!
