Independent snow and weather reporting from the Myoko region of Niigata
New snowfall at base 3cm
Snowfall at base this season 444cm
Posted on Tuesday 14th January 2014 This is an archived report. The latest Myoko Now report can be found here.
Light snow has been falling through the morning in now-snowy Myoko. It would be great to get enough to really reset the powder, but it looks pretty light at the moment. It's pretty cold as well—at least it will be light new snow!
Some interesting changes being reported by the ski areas; I don't know how Akakura Onsen lost 20cm, while Seki Onsen gained 50cm! They're not that far apart... The official reporting has been a bit, um, loose this season (I'd like to say flaky, but I'm too nice to say that).
Akakan has been the most consistent, and they do have actual depth gauges on the hill. When in doubt, check with the grand old resort.
Fine clear conditions forecast for tomorrow in the region.
